When I was 21 years old, I was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis. This neurological disorder caused inflammation in my spinal cord and rendered me a paraplegic. For the past 20 years, I've used various standard wheelchairs that have sapped me of my energy and independence.

Now though, I’m living much more independently thanks to my iBOT® Mobility System.

I work as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, helping young adults with

disabilities find employment. The iBOTŪ has made a tremendous impact on my career.
 

One day, I attended a meeting with a prospective employer for one of my clients and could not find handicapped parking. So, I ended up parking far from the building and right next to a curb. When I exited my vehicle, I noticed I was right on the edge of the curb. In a standard wheelchair, I would have never been able to negotiate an obstacle like that. But the 4-Wheel Function of the device allowed me to breeze right over it and got me into the meeting with time to spare.

Another great aspect of using the iBOTŪ in the workplace is that it lets me be eye-to-eye, both figuratively and literally, with individuals who are standing. When I'm talking to an employer about a prospective candidate, I feel like I'm taken more seriously because I don't have to look up at them.

I truly believe that the iBOT® has significantly enhanced my credibility and has made me a better advocate for people with disabilities.
