I'll be honest. After I was hurt, I lost my taste for the construction industry. I thought life in a wheelchair would be too burdensome for me to continue in my career. I thought I wouldn't be able to do a lot around construction sites because I couldn't walk. In a wheelchair, I knew that I wouldn't be on the same level - literally and figuratively - with other builders.

That's why I initially spoke with the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation about my need for the iBOT® Mobility System. I helped them understand that the iBOT® wasn't a luxury, but a necessity because it would enable me to re-enter the taxpaying workforce and compete with other builders. And let me tell you, after I got my iBOT® Mobility System, my taste for construction returned and my perspective on life changed forever.

Now with the iBOT®, I don't have problems getting around the properties of my job sites. I don't get stuck in the mud or sand. I don't need help from others in getting up the stairs into people's homes. The iBOT® Mobility System gave me the freedom and confidence to do all of these things by myself and to be equal to other builders. Now when I'm at a job site, people don't even realize that I'm in a wheelchair.The iBOT® has also helped me stand up and serve the citizens of North Miami Beach as a councilman and as a liaison on the Commission on Disability in the City. I'm now up for re-election for my 3rd term as councilman. The iBOT® has allowed me to easily reach the houses of my constituents so I can talk to them about how I am standing up for the issues that are important to them. The people I meet on a daily basis are simply amazed at just what the iBOT® Mobility System can do for me.

There are so many other stories I could tell you about how the iBOT® has allowed me to visit old ruins and the Western Wall in Israel or travel through the ancient, cobbled - and normally inaccessible - streets of Rome. I could tell you about the times that I've been able to stare into my wife's eyes while I'm dancing with her at the annual judges ball, but I'll just leave you with this thought that really exemplifies what the iBOT® Mobility System has done for me.

When I use my iBOT® Mobility System, I don't feel disabled. I always tell people that I haven't seen a pair of legs for auction on eBay® yet, so the iBOT® is my best bet at being independent until they come up with a cure for my paralysis.
