| The walk from my condo in Murray Hill to
the Midtown office where I work isn't far, about 13 blocks,
but it's always an interesting experience. As anyone who's
visited New York knows, it's a very busy place, which can make
getting around a challenge. The iBOT® Mobility System has made
this much easier, though. It's quite a bit lower and shorter
than my previous chair, which helps with stability and
maneuverability, and it has much more precise handling,
helping me avoid the people who are often too busy talking on
cell phones or checking their Blackberries to watch where
they're going, not to mention the infamous New York yellow
cabs. |

| One of the most useful features of the iBOT® for me living
in New York, is its ability to climb onto curbs. Although the
majority of sidewalks in Manhattan now have curb cuts, there
are still plenty of areas lacking them, or where they have
been destroyed by re-paving or deterioration. To get around
this in my old wheelchair I would have to go out of my way to
find an accessible curb, sometimes a few blocks away. Now, I
don't have to worry about that. The iBOT® Mobility System can
drive right onto just about any sidewalk, curb cut or not.

I often find the iBOT®'s ability to stand on two wheels
very useful as well. Not only does this give me more
confidence when talking with people, but it makes for a more
natural conversation for everyone. This is something of
particular importance at my job as an analyst at a global
investment bank.
When not at work, I enjoy exploring
the many parks and neighborhoods throughout the City; one of
my favorite spots being Central Park. While I was able to get
around the park in my previous wheelchair, I'm definitely more
comfortable with the iBOT®. In four-wheel mode it keeps me
upright and stable even when I go through the park's hilly
areas, I no longer have to worry about tipping back or getting
jostled around in my chair.
And of course I try to take
advantage of the myriad bars and restaurants Manhattan has to
offer. Unfortunately, many of them are in older buildings with
a one or two step entrance. Before I got the iBOT® Mobility
System, someone would have to try and lift my wheelchair up
the steps, a pain at best, many times impossible. Now with the
iBOT®, steps are no problem.
I would have to say that even though I have only had it
since early 2007, the iBOT® Mobility System has already had a
huge impact on my life.
